About the climate screening

The climate screening gives you an overview of climate risk for a specific address. Here's what you need to know about the results.

Where does the data come from?

We use publicly available data from Norwegian and European authorities, combined with climate scenarios to show exposure under different climate conditions and time horizons for a range of possible futures. For the full list of data sources, see the data sources table further down this page.

What does the climate risk score mean?

The score ranges from 1 to 10, where 10 means the highest climate risk. It is based on a combined assessment of relevant natural hazards for the address. Serious hazards weigh more than minor ones, and the weighting is based on historical insurance data.

What do the exposure levels mean?

Each natural hazard is shown with an exposure level: Not exposed, Very low, Low, Medium, High, or Very high. This shows the degree to which the property is exposed to that hazard based on geographic location and the available data. It does not take probability into account, but shows possible exposure under extreme events.

Is this a prediction that something will happen?

No. The analyses show exposure under extreme events and/or different climate scenarios, not an assessment of imminent danger. A high exposure means the address is in an area that could be affected under extreme conditions, not that there is an acute threat.

Can I trust the results?

The results are based on the best available public data. Quality varies between different hazards and regions depending on available mapping. About the methodology

At Telescope, we want our assessments to be transparent, reliable, and easy to understand. By openly sharing the data sources, analysis steps, and how we interpret results, we make it possible for users to trust the outcomes, verify the process, and reproduce results where relevant.

Our methodology is designed in line with the EU Taxonomy Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2020/852) and related Delegated Acts, aiming at compliance with technical screening criteria and the Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) requirements.

The analysis combines official climate and geospatial datasets with standardized procedures. While we strive for accuracy and completeness, results depend on both the quality of underlying data and the information provided by users.
